§ Mr. Brintonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in the light of past underfunding of the Medway towns as health districts by the South-East regional health authority, whether he will consider an alteration to the present system in order to create a fairer allocation.
§ Dr. VaughanUnder the present arrangements my right hon. Friend is responsible for allocations to regional health authorities. Regional health authorities allocate resources to area health authorities, which in turn allocate to health districts. My right hon. Friend and I see no reason to alter this system in advance of decisions to be taken following consultation on the future organisation of the NHS.
