§ Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many projects are under way between the Development Commission or the Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas and local authorities, or planned to start in each of the next three years; how much investment by the Development Commission or COSIRA is involved; how many jobs are estimated to result from projects under way or planned; and if he will issue a full statement indicating what role is anticipated for the Development Commission and COSIRA.
§ Mr. KingThere are 134 factory projects where contracts have been placed, but work has yet to be completed. The estimated cost is about £7.7 million and about 1,200 jobs will be provided. The numbers of factories to be started in the next three years has not yet been decided.
The functions of the Development Commission and COSIRA are currently under review by an inter-departmental group of officials.
