HC Deb 25 May 1979 vol 967 c289W
Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Lord Privy Seal what discussions he has had with the Government of the United States of America, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and France as to the possible release from prison of Rudolf Hess; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Ian Gilmour

I have not had discussions with the other Governments who share with the United Kingdom the responsibility for Rudolf Hess. The Government maintain the position which successive British Governments have held, namely that Hess should be released from prison immediately on humanitarian grounds.
