HC Deb 25 May 1979 vol 967 c322W
Mr. Tom Benyon

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he intends to seek to amend paragraph 25 of schedule I to the Supplementary Benefits Act 1976 and thereby increase the quantum of occupational pension allowance which has remained unchanged at £1 per week since 1967.

Mr. Prentice

The report on the review of the supplementary benefits scheme, "Social Assistance", which was published in July 1978, proposed that the occupational pensions disregard of £1 be discontinued. We shall be considering the future shape of the scheme when we have fully studied the many comments and submissions which have been received in response to "Social Assistance". A decision about the occupational pensions disregard will not, therefore, be taken in isolation from our consideration of the scheme as a whole.
