§ Mr. Tom Benyonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he intends to seek to amend paragraph 25 of schedule I to the Supplementary Benefits Act 1976 and thereby increase the quantum of occupational pension allowance which has remained unchanged at £1 per week since 1967.
§ Mr. PrenticeThe report on the review of the supplementary benefits scheme, "Social Assistance", which was published in July 1978, proposed that the occupational pensions disregard of £1 be discontinued. We shall be considering the future shape of the scheme when we have fully studied the many comments and submissions which have been received in response to "Social Assistance". A decision about the occupational pensions disregard will not, therefore, be taken in isolation from our consideration of the scheme as a whole.
