HC Deb 25 May 1979 vol 967 cc279-80W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what he proposes to do about the serious problem of diesel and petrol shortages in many parts of Scotland, particularly in East Aberdeenshire.

Mr. David Howell

A number of filling stations in East Aberdeenshire and elsewhere in Scotland have been closed from time to time because of temporary shortages. The supply position of the oil company concerned should shortly be improved. Nevertheless, in Scotland, as elsewhere, all consumers should make every effort to reduce so far as possible their fuel requirements, since oil products will continue in short supply over the coming months.
