HL Deb 24 May 1979 vol 400 c530WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking to ensure licensees shall not be able to avoid the duties and responsibilities listed in the answer to his question of 20th February (Official Report, 6th March, col. 166) given that many of the licensee companies operating on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf may no longer be within the jurisdiction of British courts.

Lord TREFGARNE

In consultation with other departments concerned, my department is examining whether any further measures are needed to ensure that licensees comply with the conditions attached to consents granted under the Coast Protection Act. The present legal position is not satisfactory and the matter is being looked into.
