§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on the progress of talks with the Spanish Government on a settlement of the Gibraltar problem; when ferry services to and from Algeciras and Gibraltar will commence; and when the border gates will be opened for free passage between Spain and Gibraltar.
§ Sir Ian GilmourThe Government have not yet had talks with the Spanish Government. It will be our policy to seek a settlement of the Gibraltar problem acceptable both to the people of Gibraltar and to Spain. The Government consider the continuing maintenance of restrictions by Spain to be unjustified and will work for their early removal.
