§ Mr. Rookerasked the Minister for Transport if he proposes further to reduce the lead content of petrol.
§ Mr. Fowler:Present plans are to reduce lead content to 0.40 grammes per litre with effect from January 1981. The results of a study of the feasibility and costs of further action will be submitted to me shortly and I shall consider this along with the review of the health effects of lead now being carried out for my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Social Services by a working party under Professor Lawther.
