HC Deb 23 May 1979 vol 967 c140W
Mrs. Short

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) if he intends to accept the instruction of the Commission that interest relief grants to British suppliers of offshore oil and gas equipment must be stopped;

(2) when he proposes to modify the United Kingdom interest relief grants scheme available to British suppliers of offshore petroleum equipment to make it conform with EEC competition requirements.

Mr. Gray:

The EEC Commission issued a decision on 2 May requiring the Government to stop offering interest relief grants under the offshore supplies two months after that date. We are considering this matter and a statement will be made in due course.
