§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he intends to continue financial support for the Leeds and Manchester detoxification centres; and what is his policy in relation to these projects.
§ Dr. VaughanThese experimental detoxification centres were set up on the basis that support from central funds has112W been limited to an agreed period, and thereafter it would be for the appropriate health and local authorities to determine whether the centres should continue as a local service. The agreed three-year period for the Leeds centre ends this month, but has been extended for a further six months to allow more time for local consultation about its future; that for the Manchester centre ends in November 1980.
