§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the possibility of the United Kingdom bidding for the 1988 Olympic Games.
§ Mr. MonroI am not in a position to make any statement at present. The hon. Member will appreciate that cities bid for the Olympic Games, not countries. London is the only United Kingdom city showing an interest at the moment and the Greater London Council is conducting a feasibility study. Should any firm proposals be put to the Government, seeking support for a bid, they will be given the most careful consideration.
