§ Mr. Jim LesterIn the area covered by the Consett and Stanley employment offices, the numbers of males and females registered as unemployed at 5 April were 2,122 and 900, respectively. Of these, 237 males and 224 females were under 20 years of age. The rates of unemployment for the Consett travel-to-work area, which also includes Lanchester, were 35W 11.7 per cent. for males and 8.6 per cent. for females. Rates of unemployment for young persons are not calculated for local areas.
