§ Mr. Cryerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will request a report from the chief constable of West Yorkshire on the gassing of badgers at Riddlesden, Keighley, during 1978.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesWe have already been in touch with the chief constable about the matters to which my hon. Friend refers and I am currently considering a recommendation by the Nature Conservancy Council that I should exercise my powers under section 6(1) of the Badgers Act 1973 to declare West Yorkshire an area of special protection for badgers.
