HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 cc132-3W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will give for the latest and most convenient stated date the annual costs to the Exchequer of paying tax-free travel and subsistence allowances to Ministers and senior civil servants.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

As I told my hon. Friend in the answer I gave on 23 March 1979—[Vol. 964, c. 800]—information on the allowances paid to Ministers and civil servants as reimbursement of the costs of travelling on official business is not held centrally for the whole Civil Service. It could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
