HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 c96W
10. Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what further measures he plans to announce which will help to alleviate unemployment on Merseyside.

Mr. Golding

The Government intend to introduce a scheme of wage-related support to help a firm restructure its activities with the aim of safeguarding employment which would otherwise disappear. In addition, a special working party has been set up to look at measures to tackle the problem of long-term unemployed people in Liverpool.

39. Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the number of (a) men, (b) women and (c) juveniles unemployed, respectively, on Merseyside, in Kirkby and in Ormskirk at the latest available date.

Mr. Golding
