HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 cc131-2W
Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many people were killed and how many seriously injured in accidents in which goods vehicles of 1½ to 3 tons, 3 to 4½ tons, 4½ to 6 tons, 6 to 8 tons, 8 to 10 tons, and over 10 tons were involved in any recent 12-month period or part thereof for which figures are available.

Mr. Horam

I regret that statistics of lorry accidents by gross weight categories, or in the weight ranges requested, are not currently available. A new road accident reporting form is gradually being introduced by police forces throughout Great Britain. The new form contains details of maximum permitted gross weight of lorries. Thus eventually this information will be available, but it is not yet possible to state how soon this information will be available on a national basis.
