HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 c141W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish a table showing, for each of the last five years, the funds made available by the Welsh Office for research into genetic counselling services; and what allocation there is for such work in 1979–80.

Mr. Barry Jones

Genetic counselling services as such are not the subject of research but funds have been made available to support research—involving genetic counselling—aimed at the long-term prevention of Huntingdon's chorea. The extent of this support is as follows:

1976–77 £5,000
1977–78 £6,700
1978–79 £1,700

Consideration is currently being given to a request for continued support for a further five-year period.
