HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 c111W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the informal meeting of EEC Employment Ministers on 9 and 10 March, at which Her Majesty's Government were represented.

Mr. Booth

I represented the United Kingdom Government at this meeting. The two main subjects for discussion were the role of worksharing in the Community's fight against unemployment and ways of developing the consultative relationship with the social partners in future tripartite conferences. We also discussed briefly the arrangements for worker participation in industry in member States. As the meeting was an informal one there were no formal papers or decisions, but a useful exchange of views took place.
