HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 c219W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimated and actual funds and assistance he is making available to authorities in England and Wales and Scotland to meet the problems created by current weather conditions; and what proportion of these amounts is allocated specifically to agriculture.

Mr. Denis Howell

As I announced in the House on 19 February, the Government will make a 75 per cent. contribution towards expenditure in excess of a 1p rate incurred by local authorities in England and Wales as a result of the recent bad weather. I cannot estimate the total value of this contribution until claims are received.—[Vol. 963. c.28–39.]
