§ Mr. Normantonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many students from Iran are obtaining education in Great Britain; how many are paying for their education; and how many are receiving their education free of charge.
§ Mr. OakesIn 1977–78, the latest year for which figures are available, there were in Great Britain some 9,900 Iranian students attending full-time or sandwich courses at universities and institutions in the public sector of education. With the possible exception of those who might have had their fees waived on hardship grounds, these students would have paid for their tuition at the appropriate rates.
