HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 c206W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many seminars and how many training courses have received Government financial support under the microprocessor applications project; what has been the total amount of money spent on (a) seminars and (b) training courses; and what are the numbers of people who have attended these seminars and courses so far.

Mr. Les Huckfield

While my Department has already participated in and encouraged a number of microelectronics awareness seminars covering around 1,000 people, we have not yet launched the special workshop programme to be funded under the Microprocessor Applications Project. Preparations are urgently under way. On training, we have committed £929,000 and have already more than doubled the number of places available for engineers.
