§ Mr. John SilkinIn finalising their views, the Government must take into account the outcome of the Commission's proposals, now before the EEC Council of Ministers, for implementing directive 77/489 in detail and the response awaited from the Commission to my proposal that the directive should not permit farm animals intended for slaughter to travel for more than 12 hours on their final journey to the slaughterhouse.
