HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 c179W
Sir Donald Kaberry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made, to the last available date, with the building of the revised phase 1 of the general infirmary at Leeds; what costs have been incurred to date; and what is estimated to be the final figure and the estimated time by which this part of the new building will be completed.

Mr. Moyle

The scheme is currently on schedule at the 21st month of a 60-month contract. The costs incurred are:

  1. (i) contract expenditure as at 2 March 1979—£3,059,610;
  2. (ii) fees—£1,708,000.

Benefit 1974 1976 1978
Supplementary Benefit 2,680,000 2,940,000 2,929,000
Family income supplement 79,000 71,000 89,000

Notes:

  1. 1. The source of the supplementary benefit figures is the annual statistical inquiry held in November 1974, December 1976 and November 1978. The figures for 1978 are not completely comparable with those for earlier years owing to a change in the method of estimation.
  2. 2. The source of the family income supplement figures is the 10 per cent. statistical sample taken in September 1974, September 1976 and September 1978.
  3. 3. All the figures relate to Great Britain. They have been rounded to the nearest thousand.
