HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 cc166-7W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the cost to public funds if he acceded to the request of the Royal College of Nursing to transfer entitlements under the federated superannuation scheme for nurses to the National Health Service scheme.

Mr. Moyle

This would depend on the basis of transfer proposed, the numbers involved and the personal circumstances of individuals, in particular their length of past service, present salary and surrender value of their insurance policies. Estimates suggest however that the cost for nurses alone could amount to several million pounds.
