asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she has received any further communication from Bedfordshire county council on the future of Eggington school; and if she will make a statement.

Yes. My right hon. Friend has now received formal notification from the Bedfordshire education authority of its intention to issue public notices shortly under section 13 of the Education Act 1944, as amended, announcing a proposal to establish a new lower school in the premises of the Eggington school. It would not be appropriate therefore for my right hon. Friend to make a statement at this stage.
