HC Deb 22 March 1979 vol 964 c718W
Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Prime Minister what are the qualifications that secured the appointment of Mr. Peter Gibson to the Commission on pay comparability; and if he will publish Mr. Gibson's responsibilities for the past 15 years prior to his premature retirement from BP Oil Ltd.

The Prime Minister

Mr. Gibson was chosen for the contribution he is expected to make to the work of the Standing Commission on pay comparability. His experience of personnel management at a high level in industry will be particularly valuable.

During the 15 years preceding his retirement Mr. Gibson held a series of senior executive posts, and for the past four and a half years he held the post of director of personnel and administration with a major oil company.
