§ Mr. Litterickasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the level of labour turnover in the Birmingham offices of the Inland Revenue during the latest 12-month period for which this information is available; and what it was five years ago.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 21 March 1979; Vol. 964, c. 660], gave the following information:
In the calendar year 1978, the rate of turnover in the Birmingham offices of the Inland Revenue, expressed as a percentage of the staff in post at the beginning of the year was 13.2 per cent. This figure includes retirements, deaths, resignations and transfers to other Departments. I regret that a corresponding figure for 1974 is not available, but the rate of turnover in 1975 was 9.1 per cent.
