In the Portuguese negotiations the second meeting at deputy level took place on 27 February when Portugal's integration into the customs union and the common commercial policy were discussed. In the Spanish negotiations work has started on the preparation of the Community's negotiating position in readiness for the beginning of substantive negotiations in the autumn.
