§ Sir Donald Kaberryasked the Secretary of State for Trade what proposals he has made to the European Commission to restrict hide and skin exports; and what proposals he has for the encouragement of a more active tanning industry in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. MeacherI have asked the EEC Commission to make a proposal for restriction of the export of raw hides and skins from the Community to third countries. Sponsorship of the United Kingdom industry is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Industry.
