§ Mr. Leeasked the Attorney-General under what circumstances members of 493W the de facto Rhodesian Assembly or politicians known to be supporters of the parties participating in the de facto Rhodesian Government are permitted to enter the United Kingdom without being arrested and prosecuted, notwithstanding the provisions of the law of treason.
§ Mr. RowlandsI have been asked to reply.
The circumstances in which individuals resident in or connected with Rhodesia are subject to travel and passport restrictions remain as laid down in the statement made by the former Commonwealth Secretary, Mr. George Thomson, to the House on 27 June 1968. The question of whether proceedings should be instituted in the case of any person who is permitted to enter the country would be for my right hon. Friend the Attorney-General to determine in the light of the facts of that particular case.
