HC Deb 19 March 1979 vol 964 cc430-1W
30. Sir Anthony Royle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, following his reply to the hon. Member for Richmond dated 12 March, he will now agree to the installation of sleeping policemen in Elm Grove Road, Barnes, in view of his statement that humps reduce both traffic speed and the number of persons injured.

Mr. Horam

Under present legislation the Secretary of State has powers to install humps only temporarily and as an experiment. All the experimental sites that are needed have now been chosen and it is not therefore proposed to install humps in any more roads.
