§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsI am sending my hon. Friend a copy of two resolutions for the promotion of co-operation in education adopted by the Education Ministers of the Nine in 1976. The EEC Education Committee, which comprises representatives of the member States and the Commission, meets regularly to deal with the implementation of the resolutions. The Commission has put forward a proposal for a directive establishing safety measures against the conjectural risks associated with recombinant DNA work. This is under consideration by the committee of permanent representatives in Brussels and has not yet been officially referred to member States.
