HL Deb 15 March 1979 vol 399 c855WA
Lord VAIZEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What decision has been reached on the proposed extension of the Sexual Offences Act 1967 to Northern Ireland.

Lord MELCHETT

The Government are still considering what action to take about the Proposal for a draft Homosexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order on which the people of Northern Ireland were invited to comment last autumn. This draft Order in Council would have the effect of bringing the law in Northern Ireland broadly into line with the law in England and Wales following the passing of the 1967 Act.
