HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c29W
Mrs. Kellett-Bowman

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the subsistence rates for day and overnight travel of part-time chairmen or members of regional water authorities when travelling away from home in (a) the United Kingdom, and (b) abroad.

Mr. Marks

The subsistence allowance for the chairmen of regional water authorities is the actual expenditure reasonably incurred on meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation.

The rates of travelling allowances for chairmen and members, and the rates of subsistence allowance for members in the United Kingdom are the same as those for members of local authorities which are specified from time to time by the Secretary of State. The current rates are set out in parts 1 and 2 of the appendix to DOE circular 10/79.

When travelling abroad chairmen and members may be reimbursed for the travelling and other expenses reasonably incurred.
