HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c58W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will give details of the policies her Department is introducing to encourage the teaching of the technology of microprocessors in schools and colleges.

Mr. Oakes

My Department is currently consulting a wide range of educational and other interests about plans for a development programme to help schools and colleges become fully aware of microelectronics and to make the best use of the opportunities it offers. The programme will extend over a five-year period and cost an estimated total of £12.5 million in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Copies of a paper with details of the programme's suggested activities are available in the Library.
