HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c27W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will set out in the Official Report the housing investment allocation to the city of Liverpool council for the last five years and the amount proposed by the Government for 1979–80.

Mr. Shore

Comprehensive capital expenditure allocations under the housing strategies and investment programmes system were first given for the current financial year, although cash limit allocations were made in respect of all local authority capital expenditure in 1977–78. The amounts of the allocations made to the city of Liverpool for those years at outturn prices are:

£ million
1977–78 26.2
1978–79 35.5
1979–80 47.3*
* provisional.

Since part of the increases over the two years is accounted for by price inflation, the hon. Gentleman may be interested to see these amounts expressed in constant November 1977 figures. These are as follows:

£ million
1977–78 26.4
1978–79 33.1
1979–80 38.8
* provisional.
