HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 cc1-2W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement on the approaches made to him by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the £700,000 annual costs for running the British Interpol office should be more widely spread among other police forces.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has proposed that the cost of running the national central bureau of Interpol should be shared by police authorities outside London under the common police services funding arrangements. The proposal is at present under consideration and will need to be the subject of consultation with the local authority associations.
