HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c89W
Mr. Sandelson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will take steps to increase the hill livestock compensatory allowances.

Mr. John Silkin

In the particular circumstances of this year, a supplementary payment of 50p per sheep will be added in 1979 only to the higher rate of allowance for hill sheep, subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary amendment to the Hill Livestock (Compensatory Allowances) Regulations. This supplementary payment will be worth £3 million to hill sheep farmers.
