HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 c674W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received concerning the upper age limit and the minimum qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims; and if he will make these representations available in the Library.

Mr. Harold Walker

I have not received any representations from official bodies on the upper age limit for unfair dismissal claims, but in the last two years I have received representations from three Members of Parliament and from Miss Nothman whose case was the subject of earlier questions from the hon. Member to which I replied on 1 February. I have received representations from a number of employers' organisations and others that the qualifying period be increased. My Department has also received suggestions from a few individuals, Members of Parliament and trade unions that it be decreased. It would not be appropriate to put these representations in the Library.
