HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 cc701-2W
Mr. Corbett

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) on what date he sent a report on a survey of horse sales carried out by the State veterinary service to local authorities; and whether he will make this available, on application, to members of the public;

(2) whether he will place in the Library a copy of the report of the State veterinary service on facilities at premises where horses are sold, and the practices which take place; and whether he is yet able to announce his decision on the report.

Mr. Strang

The report has not yet been sent to local authorities. Some individual local authorities were, however, informed of shortcomings that were noted in the course of the survey at horse sales within their areas.

A copy of the report will be placed in the Library of the House within the next few days at the same time as it is put before my right hon. Friends the Minister, and the Secretary of State for Scotland, and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales. A further statement will be made when they have considered the results of the survey.
