asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made towards ensuring that the elderly at risk are assisted to maintain the medically advised basic temperature of 21 degrees C.

Elderly people can get help to achieve comfortable temperatures through supplementary benefit heating additions, the electricity discount scheme, and assistance with the cost of insulation under the Homes Insulation Act 1978.
