Whether they can confirm that the Inspector at the M.25 (Leatherhead Interchange) Public Inquiry is appointed by the Lord Chancellor in accordance with revised procedures recommended in the White Paper on Highway Inquiry Procedures (Cmnd. 7133).
§ Baroness STEDMANNo. The Inspector was appointed before the presentation to Parliament of the Report on the Review of Highway Inquiry Procedures which proposed that, in future, my noble and learned friend the Lord Chancellor should nominate Inspectors for appointment by my right honourable friends the Secretaries of State for Transport and the Environment jointly.
