§ The Prime MinisterAt my meeting with the executive of the National Union of Mineworkers on 26 February, the executive urged the need for adequate financial support for the coal industry. I reaffirmed the Government's commitment to a healthy coal industry and explained that the Government recognised the need for continuing financial support, though this would have to be considered in relation to other claims on public expenditure.
