HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 cc491-2W
Mr. Peter Rees

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in the light of the collision between the "St. Germain" and the "Artardi", he is satisfied with the arrangements for the surveillance and control of ships in the Straits of Dover.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Radar surveillance of vessels in the Dover Strait is carried out jointly by the United Kingdom and France. At a meeting later this month, the Anglo-French Safety Navigation Group will consider whether in the fight of the "St. Germain"/"Artardi" incident any changes are required in the present arrangements for regulating the movement of shipping in the Dover Strait.
