HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 cc413-4W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many cases of scab were reported in Wales during the last 12 months; what were the corresponding figures for the last 10 years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Morris

None in the last 12 months. The number of cases of sheep scab confirmed in Wales in the last 10 years is as follows—1973, 4; 1974, 1; 1975, 2; 1977, 3. All other years, nil. The present satisfactory position in Wales reflects the co-operation of farmers in complying with the compulsory dipping requirements. Full compliance with these measures is necessary in order to maintain continued freedom from this disease.
