HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 cc510-1W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) whether he will advise the pharmaceutical industry sector working party to confine its work to the long-term health and competitiveness of the industry as a whole and to desist from discussions on manpower planning at company level or trades union involvement with company's investment planning; and whether he will make a statement;

(2) whether he will dissolve the pharmaceutical industry sector working party;

(3) when the pharmaceutical industry sector working party last held a meeting; and when it last produced a report.

Mr. Ennals

I am writing to the hon. Member. But, in brief, I hope to be present at a high level tripartite meeting under the aegis of the Pharmaceutical Sector Working Party on 10 April. We shall discuss a wide range of issues concerning the welt being of this important and successful industry. I trust that any matters arising which require further detailed consideration will be taken on by the sector working party itself.
