§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether it is the Government's policy that the multi-fibre arrangement is a temporary agreement or whether it is the basis of a permanent 493W or long-term arrangement for protection of the textile industry.
§ Mr. MeacherThe present MFA is the latest of a succession of limited-term arrangements regulating international trade in textiles. The Government consider that some similar arrangement will continue to be needed after the present bilateral agreements expire at the end of 1982.
