HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 cc562-3W
Mr. Scott

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will instruct the Inland Revenue to give sympathetic consideration to the taxation problems of those British expatriates under contract to work in Iran who, due to circumstances beyond their control, have been forced to return prematurely to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Joel Barnett

The Inland Revenue has already undertaken to give sympathetic consideration to the position of those British expatriates who may be faced with unforeseen tax liabilities as a result of their premature return from Iran, by allowing them to spread payment over a reasonable period.
