HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 c458W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to fund in whole or in part the investment being made by foreign sub-contractors involved in the British Aerospace 146 airliner project; and what is the percentage of the total value of the aircraft which it is anticipated will be supplied by overseas companies.

Mr. Les Huckfield

The details of the terms on which foreign manufacturers are involved in the 146 are a matter for British Aerospace. I understand, however, that the risk-sharing overseas partners are responsible for their own investment as regards the wing, tail planes and control surfaces. None is being funded by the Government. British Aerospace estimates that the total value of components supplied by overseas companies represents about 37 per cent. of the aircraft selling price.
