§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for Employment what steps have been taken since 1 January to improve the safety of the hazardous installations in the Canvey Island/Thurrock area covered by the Health and Safety Executive's report published in June 1978, giving specific details in the case of each installation.
§ Mr. Mayhew, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 20 June 1979], gave the following answer:
I am sending my hon. Friend a summary of progress to date. I understand from the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the area director for East Anglia is in correspondence with my hon. Friend and that he will write to him shortly with further details.
